Welcome to the 2016 T-Ball Tigers!
Welcome to T-Ball for 2016!
I'm Coach JJ and your child has been assigned to our team, the Tigers. I can't wait to get going with the season!
Our family joined Plymouth-Canton Little League last spring when our son Zach started playing t-ball. We had a very positive experience. I was an assistant t-ball coach last year and was able to learn from a great coach about how this all works. Our other son Carter is still a little too young to play, but he's looking forward to another year of digging in the dirt next to the dugout during games.
Here are a few pieces of information to get us started:
We will not have our schedule until sometime in late March. Almost all (maybe all) of our games will be on Saturdays. Most (maybe all) games will be at the fields at McClumpha Park. The season is scheduled to start in late April or very early May.
Once the season gets going, we will have one game and one practice each week. Practice day/time/place are TBD at this point. I will get more info to you on this when it gets sorted out. We will have a few practices in April before games start. Some of these may be indoors if necessary.
Games usually last 3 innings. Every kid bats in every inning. The defense tries to make plays, but no one is ever called out. All kids get to hit the ball and run the bases every time up. On defense we will switch the kids to different spots each inning.
Your child will need a glove and cleats. Soccer cleats are fine. Most players bring their own batting helmet, but we will have some team helmets to share if needed. Players do not need their own bat but are welcome to bring one. Parents of boys should seriously consider having their son were a cup so they get used to it.
There will be an optional PCLL league wide parent meeting this Saturday, February 27 at 9:00 am. The meeting will be held in the St. Peter's Lutheran School gym at 1343 Penniman. Sorry for the short notice!
All players in PCLL, along with their parents, are required to fill out a concussion form. You can email your completed form to PCLL Safety Officer Randy Gerber at
[email protected]
or get it to me and I will take care of it.
More info to come!
